At Drive EV Service in Taupo, we specialise in keeping 100% electric vehicles running reliably and cost-effectively. Whether you need routine servicing or complex repairs, Ned and the team are your trusted one-stop workshop for all things EV.

Ned van Geffen is a highly experienced EV specialist with years of hands-on work across New Zealand’s growing electric fleet. We don’t just replace expensive parts — we diagnose issues accurately and provide smart, logical, cost-effective solutions. From basic services to high-voltage battery repairs and full electric motor rebuilds, we’ve got you covered.

Japanese Import Localisation

We handle map and language updates, charging conversions, enabling features, and other localisation work to make imported EVs feel right at home in New Zealand.

Parts — New and Used

We stock a wide range of new and used EV parts, including charging cables, adapters, cabin filters, and much more. We also have direct access to a large wrecking yard in Taupo for batteries, motors, body panels, glass, and everything in between.

What do we specialise in?

Tesla
We are New Zealand’s leading independent workshop for Tesla repairs (Model 3, Model S, Model Y, and more). Official service centres often replace entire assemblies at high cost. We focus on fixing components where possible, delivering significant savings without compromising quality or safety.

Nissan LEAF
We’ve kept hundreds of LEAFs on the road by repairing high-voltage batteries where possible (including module swaps), diagnosing and fixing wiring and electronic issues, and offering battery swaps or upgrades.

Renault Zoe
With some of the earliest hands-on experience with the Zoe in New Zealand, we offer expert fault-finding and repairs for this popular model.

Volkswagen
Our workshop is equipped with specialised tooling that allows us to deliver near-franchise-level service and repair quality for VW electric models.

BMW
We stock i3 parts and have successfully repaired BMW EVs for a fraction of the cost quoted by other workshops.

Tow Bars

We can supply tow bars suitable for most EVs and fit + wire them in-house. We also have a reliable network of installers around New Zealand for customers further afield.

CCS Conversions

We have been pioneers in getting the best out of imported electric vehicles, converting the first Model S from NACS to Type 2 in 2019 and the first Model 3 to full CCS in 2022.
