The most important thing to look for when buying a 40kWh LEAF is the batteries condition, a very common misconception is that the battery State of Health or SoH gives buyers assurance that the battery is in good condition. Although the SoH is important, it only tells you the estimated storage of the battery, the most important information you need is temperature related and the SoH does not offer this information.
Drive EV has one of the leading LEAF repair workshops in NZ and in that shop we see numerous customers who have bought cars from dealers who only know how to plug a LEAFspy in and get an SoH. Some of the cars we have seen are so badly abused that the pack (even with a great SoH) need a costly repair or even worse can be a total loss.

Cars that have been in warm areas and have had lots of fast charges in a short space of time can pick up permanent damage that is easy to check but some many dealers do not check this.

The good news is that we (as do other reputable EV dealers) have a tool that can look into the history of the pack and check this, because of this we have the ability to offer a 3 year battery warranty on all the LEAFs we sell.
